You know, where I come from, I've seen my share of the "End of Days". What I'm trying to say is... how do you know which one's it? The big it, the it to end all its. This could be it, or it couldn't. Who knows. ♪ ♫ So be good, for goodness sake. ♫ ♪

[the response is automatic the moment the words "college" and "roommate" are said. Ray's roommate in his freshman year - his only roommate - was a guy named John Emerson, and thank goodness he isn't here now. he's not sure that he could stomach being around such an idiotic, lowbrow, mean spirited jock for longer than five seconds; even back then he could recognize it before the taunting and bullying reached a fever pitch, getting so bad that he refused to so much as live on campus in the following years. that's the first contradiction in Peter's story.

Ghosts, huh? [he snorts derisively.] That's so typical. I guess I do kind of believe you to the extent where you've gotta be someone from the university. No way you'd know who my brother and sister are if you weren't.

But, y'know... It's great to know that even after the apocalypse and this whole multiuniversal abduction plot, you're finding new, progressive ways to make fun of me. Now THAT'S dedication!

[There's another long pause from his end. He's not sure if he's more upset or pissed. Not that it really matters.]

I don't have time for this. I don't care if this is some assinine way at getting back at me or if you really don't remember it. Believe it or don't. Ask yourself where that proton pack you've got came from, maybe it'll spark a memory.

Proton what? [you can hear the scowl in his voice.] I don't even know what that is. If it's something I'm supposed to have from home, save your breath. I don't have anything.

[yeah, he'll just slam that phone down now. sulking seems like a good way to spend the rest of the evening.]
